the 1980's

The 1980's

Its been really cold in my city lately.

Some old timers would call it the good old times in Bangalore when one would scout their old grey almirahs for woolens even in the middle of summer, when watching rain from your window while eating hot pakodas and tea was considered the equalant of a modern day oxygen spa routine.
Life today, felt like the 80's. Cosy and slow.

Remember Sai paranjpe's Chashm-e-badoor starring Farooq Sheikh, and Deepti naval, Ravi baswani, and Rajesh bedi,
remember
Rafoo chakkar, remember all those lovely Nfdc productions, Jaane bhi do yaroon - the greatest example of hindi comedy at its best and a casestudy on the art of story telling. I really wish if i could go back to the smashing 70's, or even the early 80's.

Actually if you ask me, iam ready to give up the ipod, playstations, xboxes, blackberry email, the metro, the barristas and coffee days, easy air travel, nuclear reactors, multiplex cinemas, tatoo parlours, online socialising, twittering, do it yourself furniture kits, pet parlours, cloning, stem cell research for the future, credit cards, oxicash, mint points, capsule/boutique hotels, artificial inteligence, aibos,wearable/surface computing, biologically engineered foods, energy drinks that boast taurine, botox, collagen injections, hair transplants, howitzers, hovercrafts and all the things i can't currently remember, to just be able to go back to the late seventies. A time when all things entertaining were simple true real life happenings. when cinema still believed in the need for a story, when searching for something dint preceed typing www. when research meant you were a bonafide bookworm. When loving photographs were taken by our doting parents and prints of which are often caressed by nostalgic fingers nowadays.
Those were the days!!!.

The temparature today read 27 degrees C maximum and 14 degrees C minimum. I personally swear it felt much lower than that. My body convulsed as soon as warm feet touched the cold floor early this morning. I groped about for my mobile under my pillow...today began nostalgic....sigh!
